Registration forms to be posted online
The government plans to follow Maharashtra’s lead by adopting the data entry by citizens project
Hyderabad: Sub registrar offices in the Telangana state will soon get a make over soon. The government plans to follow Maharashtra’s lead by adopting the “data entry by citizens” project, which will eliminate the need for document writers and middlemen. All registration document formats will be posted online on the stamps and registrations department’s website. Citizens can download these forms and fill the property details on their own for registration.
Helpdesks will be set up at all the registration offices to assist people in filling the details correctly and to discourage them from approaching brokers. At present, people are forced to rely on document writers and middlemen for registration of property. People enter sub-registrar offices only after the entire documentation work is completed outside. Owners of document writing agencies accompany people into the offices, talk to the officials concerned and ensure that the registration process is completed.
There is no one to help people who approach the officials directly. As a result, people are forced to take the help of brokers and shell thousands of rupees. “We want to eliminate the middlemen menace in property registration process. Therefore, we have decided to set up helpdesks to assist people,” said Mohd Mahmood Ali, Deputy Chief Minister and minister for revenue.
