Setback for Prime Minister’s Twitter plans ahead his Japan trip

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious project to make all Central ministries and departments under the experts in social media interaction has suffered a major setback. It is learnt that the experiment has proved to be a non-starter with several ministries failing to meet the stipulated requirements and have been unable to make use of social media.

Sources said that the non-performance of officials of various ministries has forced the Modi government to decide on phased implementation of its social media experiment. Experts involved in the training of government officials have now decided to focus on a few ministries instead of trying to implement it in all ministries and departments at once.

The decision was taken after experts said that majority of officials involved in the project were unable to operate twitter handles or smart phones causing problems in implementation of the project.
