Forget everything, Apple announces iPhone 6 launch date
Apple officially announced the launch date for the most awaited iPhone 6
Apple has officially announced the launch date for the iPhone 6 by sending out an invite to the media.
The most awaited launch event of the year and the much-anticipated products from Apple are due to be unveiled on 9 September, 2014. Apple is expected to be unveiling the two iPhone 6 smartphones, a wearable (the iWatch), the iOS 8 operating system, and a few more.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 6 in two variants, a 4.7-incher and a 5.5-incher and also a wearable, most probably the iWatch on the same day.
The event will be held at Flint Center for the Performing Arts, on a college campus near Apple's headquarters in the California city of Cupertino. The venue has a greater seating capacity than other venues the company has traditionally used for media events.
Images of the center posted online showed that a construction project seemingly related to the Apple event was taking shape behind white walls as tall as the building.
A security team guarded the scene. "Clearly, putting the event in a larger venue and erecting some mysterious building sends cues it is something dramatic and important," Forrester analyst Frank Gillett said of Apple's preparations.
"There is symbolism in that it is the place where the original Mac was introduced."
