Hyderabad: After a gap of two months, the state government is set to resume its operation of taking back unused land from private firms later this month. The focus initially will be on Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy.

On July 5, the government took back 16 acres of prime land on Jubilee Hills Road No. 76 that had not been used by the AP Film Development Corporation for three decades.

The government then took a temporary break and ordered surveys to identify unused land in Hyderabad and RR districts.

Revenue officials have so far traced nearly 100 acres in HMDA limits alone. Officials estimate the cost of the land at Rs 1,000 crore at current market prices.

United AP government had allotted land to various firms at low rates in return for creating thousands of jobs. Most of them are IT firms that secured land between 1998 and 2013.

However, many firms failed to execute the projects and the land has been lying unused.
