Metro man to look after Andhra Pradesh projects

Sreedharan was appointment to oversee construction of the 2 Metro Rail projects

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has assigned the construction of the two Metro Rail projects at Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada-Guntur, Tenali-Mangalagiri to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. The DMRC principal advisor E. Sreedharan has been appointed as the adviser to AP government on the Metro Rail projects.
 
Mr Sreedharan met AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday at his office in the Assembly. The Chief Minister asked Mr Sreedharan to finish both the projects within three-and-half years. Mr Naidu has also asked Mr Sreedharan to prepare feasibility report for a rail-based mass rapid transport system.
 
The AP government has also proposed a Metro Rail project for Tirupati. However, the Tirupati Metro Rail project would be taken up once the Visakhapatnam and VGTM projects are completed.
Mr Sreedharan has assured the Chief Minister that DMRC would support and assist AP government in every possible way.
