Hyderabad: On September 5, many government schools might not be able to beam Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Teacher’s Day address to school students due to lack of infrastructure. While education department officials said that instructions have been issued to make the necessary arrangements, school teachers and staff state their helplessness saying arrangements can’t be made without a single rupee being released by the government.
“In Hyderabad and the rest of Telangana, the situation is the same. Officials are saying everything is ready, but on the ground it is different. Some schools have TV sets, but in lots of them, there are none. How will we arrange for cable connections and TVs when the government is not giving even one rupee” a representative of Telangana Teachers’ Federation said.
Schools have also been asked by the education department to ensure that there are no interruptions due to power supply issues during the PM’s speech hours. Meanwhile, CBSE schools say they will show the Prime Minister’s address live and response from students has also been good.D. Usha Reddy, chairperson of Hyderabad Sahodaya Schools Complex, said, “It is not mandatory at all, but we will air Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address in schools and the response from students has also been quite positive and enthusiastic.”
Schools also say that they have not received any circular about filing compliance reports with the Union HRD ministry.
