Industry backs Vijayawada
Ambiguity over the capital will be cleared and this would certainly help to fast-track growth

Hyderabad: Industry bodies on Thursday welcomed the Andhra Pradesh government’s decision to build the state’s new capital city in the Vijayawada region.Commenting on the decision, Vanitha Datla, vice-chairperson of CII, felt that the decision has cleared the ambiguity over the capital and would certainly help to fast-track growth in Andhra Pradesh.
In a statement, Ms Datla opined that building a world class infrastructure in new capital city would offer new opportunities for industry, particularly to the infrastructure firms.
State-level industry body Fapcci said that the location of the capital at a central place in the state offers greater scope for overall development. “Vijayawada and its surrounding areas have long been the business centre of the State and there are vast potential to set up industry and encourage trade and commerce. The development of three mega cities and 14 smart cities is also a very welcome step,” Fapcci said in a release here.
AP Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vijaywada chapter, welcomed the decision.ACCI president Muttava-rapu Murali Krishna said, “Vijayawada is well connected by road, rail and air and is centrally located in Andhra Pradesh. The city has all other resources like industry, business and agriculture to provide employment for the youth and the IT sector is also eyeing on the city.”
