Kozhikode: When the Kozhikode Economic Offences Wing officers walked into the hideout of Moidheen alias Moidheen Kutty, 38,  at Manjeri,  little did they know that they were going to nab arguably Kerala’s best document forger.

They were aghast at what they saw in the  hideout--41 Calicut University degree certificates, 12 school admission certificates, seven SSLC books, seven higher secondary mark sheets, one IIM degree certificate, seven driving licences, 12 election identity cards, 12 Muslim marriage certificates and fake seals of almost all departments.

Even an expert forgery examiner would  have difficulty in differentiating them from the originals.

“We arrested him on the basis of a complaint  from the Malappuram passport office as they had doubts about a particular age proof certificate attached with a passport application. The case came up in 2010 and then we had seized such forged documents from some of the travel agencies in Malappuram. But Moidheen Kutty escaped and had been absconding,” Kozhikode EOW SP, Abdul Kareem, told Deccan Chronicle.
