Victims said that SIT identified accused in Kutba killing case, police failed to arrest

Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh: A group of riot victims have threatened to start an agitation if the police fails to arrest the accused by Sunday.

The victims, who were more than hundred in number, threatened the district authorities to start an agitation at Palda village under Shapur police station here on Thursday.

The riots victims who were displaced from Kutba village and rehabilitated in Palda village said that if police fails to arrest the riots accused till September 7, they would start an agitation by staging a dharna outside the police outpost on September 8 to press for their demands.

The riot victims who were protesting outside their colony at Palda village in the district, said that the Special Investigation Team had identified the accused in Kutba killing case but police failed to arrest them.

Eight persons including a woman were killed and several injured and their houses burnt by rioters at Kutba village under Shapur police station in the district on September 8, 2013.

Police registered a case against more than hundred people in this connection. SIT had also found about fifty persons involved in the Kutba killing case and asked the local police to arrest them.

Police has arrested two accused so far. A local court had also initiated attachment proceedings against the riots accused.

More than 60 people were killed and 40,000 displaced during riots in Muzaffarnagar district and neighbouring areas in September last.
