Hyderabad: Two police officers, including the inspector of Pahadi Shareef who were allegedly hand in glove with the snake gang, were suspended by Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand on Thursday.

The suspended officials are inspector D. Baskar Reddy, a former SHO of Pahadi Shareef and SI B. Veera Prasad of Shaheen Nagar. The police chief had ordered an inquiry following allegations that the two officials were soft on the snake gang. There was delay in pursuing the snake gang case by the Pahadi Shareef police. Soon after the gang was arrested, the inspector was transferred by the commissioner.

Sources from Pahadi Shareef said that after raping the woman and attacking her friend, the snake gang had “managed” the police for a few days. There were also allegations that the gang had bribed the police. “When the raped girl approached the police, the police refused to register the case.” sources said.

Inspector Bhaskar Reddy is from the 1996 batch and SI Veera Prasad is from the 2009 batch.
