Belgaum: Police have busted a racket involved in the trafficking of girls and women from Belgaum to Rajasthan and other states and recently arrested a woman in this connection. The arrested woman, identified as Radha Revankar, resident of Patil Galli, was an agent and had recently taken a minor girl from the city and sold her in Rajasthan.

The police found that a 15-year-old girl was recently taken by a group, led by Radha and Kailas Jain, resident of Rajasthan, to a remote town in Rajasthan under the pretext of getting her married. At Rajasthan, Radha sold her to Mukesh Jain, a resident of that state, for Rs 2.20 lakh. The girl is still in Rajasthan and yet to be traced.

According to the police, some weeks ago, Radha came in contact with the girl's mother and employed her as a domestic help at her house in Patil Galli.

Later Radha assured her that she would help her daughter get married to a decent person. She took the mother and the daughter to Barmer in Rajasthan, on the pretext of getting the girl married.

In her complaint to the police, the girl's mother said that on reaching Barmer Radha locked her up in a house and handed over her daughter to Kailas Jain. Four days later Kailas struck a deal of Rs 2.20 lakh to sell the minor girl to Mukesh Jain and got them married the same day.

Police have begun investigations and are trying to arrest all those involved in the racket in Belgaum and trace the girl in Rajasthan.
