Coimbatore:CPI (M ) candidate C. Padmanaban has jumped into the mayoral fray with just one agenda: reducing the victory margin of AIADMK candidate P. Rajkumar. Comrade Padmanaban, three time councillor in ward No. 3 at Hopes, said voters have lost confidence in AIADMK in the city corporation.
"Voters have lost confidence in the ruling party because of the corruption in every department in the city corporation and indifference meted out the public in the last three years, “he says. He has already filed a complaint with the election officer asking for the removal of AIADMK banners placed on city roads.
Padmanaban created a Facebook account just before handing over the nomination and updated his profile online with photos. “While our comrades will take care of online campaign, I will address the public on roads,” he said.
The CPI (M) candidate arrived along with sloganeering comrades, waving red flags, at the city corporation office to file his nomination papers. Padmanaban told the media that corruption and delay in providing services to the public has ruined the growth of the Coimbatore city. He strongly believed that his poll promises on expansion of bus stand, building sub ways and regular water supply would attract votes.
