No hidden agenda, says Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu
There was no hidden agenda in choosing the Vijayawada region as the capital
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said there was no hidden agenda in choosing the Vijayawada region as the capital of the state. He said it was the popular choice and surveys had also shown that nearly 75 per cent of the people wanted Vijayawada to be the capital. Replying to the Opposition in the Assembly, Mr Naidu rubbished talk of real estate game in selecting Vijayawada as the capital. “We don’t have any hidden agenda behind choosing Vijayawada as capital. We will act against those who have hidden agendas,” he said. Mr Naidu also appealed to farmers to cooperate in land acquisition saying it is a win-win situation for everybody. “Water saved in one place can always be used in other areas.
There is no real estate game being played here. I appealed to farmers also to give their land. We need their help and it is a win-win situation for all of us if they do,” Naidu said. Opposition party leaders had alleged that the government was under pressure to ignore the Sivaramakrishnan committee report and select Vijayawada as capital since many Telugu Desam leaders had invested in realty there. YSRC legislators said it was a real estate game and the Chief Minister had buckled under pressure from them.
