Lucknow:In his first major attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said on Thursday that he was “busy playing drums in Japan” while the nation was reeling under the impact of power shortages and rising prices.
Mr Gandhi’s remark was an obvious reference to scenes showing the PM playing drums during his just-concluded visit to Japan. “The 100 days of Modi government are over... The government has not been able to fulfil the promises it made to the people.
The problem of inflation continues, and now there is a power crisis as well. What is he doing about price rise and corruption” Mr Gandhi asked during a visit to Amethi on Thursday. Reacting strongly to Mr Gandhi’s comments, senior Union minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said in New Delhi, “His voice is not heard by his own party, why should we listen.”
