Sathasivam says he’s a ‘one-man army’

Mr Sathasivam said he wanted to work for better relations between Kerala and the centre

Thiruvananthapuram: New Governor P. Sathasivam, 65, who called himself a one-man army, arrived here on Thursday and will be sworn in  at 9 a.m. on Friday. 

He was accompanied by his wife Saraswathy Sathasivam and they were received by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, Health Minister V. S. Sivakumar, other ministers and officials.

He told the media in Erode before leaving for Thiruvananthapuram that he wanted  to work for better relations between Kerala and the centre.

Mr  Sathasivam said that he was  not a politician and added that he was coming to Kerala armed with several years of experience as a constitutional expert.

He also told the Raj Bhavan staffers, who phoned him up, that he is a one-man army and did not bother much about  all the paraphernalia.

Earlier in the morning,  outgoing Governor Sheila Dikshit was given a warm send-off at the airport by the Chief Minister and his council of ministers.

She was given a guard of honour at the technical area of the Air Force airport.
