Hyderabad:A woman home guard was killed at Basragadi village in the Medchal mandal of Ranga Reddy district. Her head was crushed with boulders resulting in instant death. The body was found on the roadside in an isolated place, near a forest. Locals who found her body alerted the police. Cops said preliminary investigations revealed no rape.

The victim K. Navneetha, 45, was a resident of Rasoolpura in Bowenpally. She was working as a home guard (Number 1841) and was attached to the Hyderabad Central Zone police.
Police said that on Friday at around 7 am, a villager found her lying dead in an open place about 500 metres away from the forest. Her body was abandoned on the roadside.

The cops reached the scene at around 10 am and examined it. The Clues team and dog squad were also pressed into action. “The body had a deep injury on the forehead. We think the killers attacked her either with a boulder or some other sharp object resulting in instant death.

There were no other external injuries,” said inspector M. Prabhakar Reddy of Medchal. The body was found near boulders and the police suspects that she was attacked using them. Preliminary investigations revealed that she wasn’t raped before the murder. However, they said they were awaiting autopsy reports.

The victim’s family was alerted and based on the complaint lodged by her son a murder case was registered. The cops are investigating whether she was murdered at the same place or elsewhere and dumped there.

“Her family suspects nobody. They claim they have no problems with anyone,” Mr Prabhakar added. Navneetha’s body was taken to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy on Friday evening.
