Andhra Pradesh riverfront project gains speed

AP shortlists 6 bidders for submission of detailed project reports

Hyderabad: The riverfront project downstream of Prakasam barrage in Vijayawada, worth Rs 1,900 crore has gained speed with VGTM Urban Development Authority selecting six bidders for submitting the detail project report. 
 
VGTM UDA officials said international and national-level consultants were among the bidders for the project aimed at creating recreation, water sports, and hotels at the stretch of 10 km on the banks of river Krishna in both Guntur and Krishna districts.
 
The last date of submitting the DPR is September 25. Vice- chairperson of urban development authority P. Usha Kumari said, “The project is aimed at river conservation as well as creating recreational facilities. The project has crossed the phase of Expression of Interest, and six companies are shortlisted. We have issued request for proposal and they have to submit financial proposals.”
 
She assured there are no encroachments downstream. Hyderabad- based Subarna International Consultants, IIDC limited, Aarvee Associates, Secunderabad-based Egis India Consulting Engineers, Bengaluru-based Consultant Engineering Services and Delhi-based Lea Associates South Asia limited were shortlisted as consultants.
 
Officials said the Krishna Vijay Sagar project downstream of the barrage will not pose a threat to the capital.
