Vijayawada: So far, neither the district nor the VGTM-UDA officials have received any orders from the state government on the land pooling concept for the state capital region. People living on the banks of the River Krishna in both Krishna and Guntur districts are anxiously waiting for clarity on the exact location of the state capital. Krishna district collector M. Raghunandana Rao told this newspaper that the revenue officials had two months ago submitted details of both government and forest lands in the district. He said that they were yet to receive fresh directives from the state government on land pooling.

The officials believe that the state government would concentrate on the land pooling after the conclusion of Assembly session and Nandigama byelection. Meanwhile, VGTM-UDA officials too said they were yet to receive instructions on land pooling in UDA limits for state capital. An official said that they would start the exercise as soon as they receive the necessary instructions from the state government.

In a related note, UDA officials have intensified raids on illegal layouts in the vicinity of Vijayawada city. As per the report submitted by officials of Vijayawada revenue division, over 15,000 acres of government and forest land is available. The Vijayawada sub-collector’s office sent the land particulars to the state government last month.
