Sugar factory fails to clear farmers’ dues
The farmers aggressively protested and it led to tense situation

Vizianagaram: Tension prevailed at NCS Sugars as the sugarcane farmers rushed to the company for their pending bills in Seethanagaram mandal, Vizianagaram district. The company has to pay around Rs 26 crore to the farmers. A large number of farmers have staged a dharna recently at the company demanding to clear their bills. At the time of dharna the management assured that it would pay the dues soon. As per the promise, some of the farmers went to the company on Friday, but the company officials did not stand on its promise.
The police force which was deployed there had prevented the farmers from entering into the factory. The farmers aggressively protested and it led to tense situation. Sub-collector of Parvathi-puram Swetha Mohanty went to the factory and assured the farmers that the government will sell the lands of the company and will pay the dues. Prior to that the company had approached the district collector and said that they are in the process of selling the properties in some other districts and after that they would pay clear the farmers’ dues.
