Vijayawada: The VMC’s integrated revenue survey that was carried out in three divisions revealed that about Rs1.45 crore of extra revenue could be generated if some irregularities are corrected. Municipal commissioner C. Hari Kiran reviewed the data collected from Divisions 1, 18 and 32 with officials and found a lot of discrepancies, when compared to the data available earlier.
In the three wards, the officials noticed that there were 414 illegal water connections, 198 drainage connections and under assessed or unassessed properties. They calculated that if these were regularised and bills collected, the VMC could get Rs 60,76,582 in revenue and another Rs 80 lakh in taxes.
