Man held on air force campus
Accused had trespassed into Sulur base on numerous occasions

Coimbatore: A 30-year-old man was held for entering the Sulur Air Force campus on Friday morning, the police said. Later, the police came to know that he was a mentally-challenged person.
The Sulur police said the man had been spotted near a section of the base known as the 28th dumb-bell. He was apprehended by Air Force authorities and handed over to the Sulur police. The Sulur police then registered a case.
During interrogation, the Sulur police identified the man as M. Mohammed Wagil, 30, from Saharapur district in Uttar Pradesh. He is mentally challenged and has been roaming around the streets of Sulur for the past three months, they found.
The police said he had trespassed into a sensitive military installation on Sulur Air Force campus. He managed to sneak in through a portion of the barbed wire fencing, they explained.
The police said Mohammed Wagil had trespassed into the base numerous times before as he would come in search of food and water very often, the police said. The Sulur police arrested Mohammed Wagil and are interrogating him in the Sulur police station.
