VIJAYAWADA:Several prominent vaastu pundits predict a great future for Andhra Pradesh’s capital, provided it is build facing north with a view of the River Krishna. All the vaastu pundits Deccan Chronicle spoke to are of the opinion that such a capital will be another Singapore and can even compete with European cities.

Astrologer K. Atchi Reddy, who is considered a vaastu expert, said that capital should be established facing north with a river view. He said that if the capital is set located near Mangalagiri, Amaravati, Nagarjuna University as speculated, it will be great for its future as the Krishna river falls on the north of these areas.

“River on north is a sign of rapid growth. If the government establishes the capital in Vijayawada city or Nuzvid or any area that has Krishna on the south, then there is a chance of law and order problems surfacing on a regular basis.

Hyderabad has faced such a problem since the Tank Bund is not on the North of the city’s administrative setup. Things only got better for Hyderabad after NTR installed the Buddha statue and the city got name and fame,” he said.

Mr Reddy added, “NTR had invited many pundits, including me, to discuss the issue. I requested him to change the name of Andhra Pradesh as per numerological balance.” He said that a 45-foot tall statue of Jala Durga should be installed, if the capital is established on the side of Krishna district for good luck.

B. Vasudeva Rao, vaastu expert and astrologer from Hanuman Junction, said that it is always better that a capital faces north. “The area between Guntur and the River Krishna is better for establishing the capital. The areas at the back of the city should be preferred for godowns or warehouses,” he said.

“The area from Mylavaram to Nuzvid, is better for trade,” Mr Rao said, adding that the east of River Krishna is most suitable for educational institutions. Durga temple Vedic committee member Shankar Sandilya said a north-facing capital is good for progress and  Guntur is suitable for it.
