Bengaluru: Namma Bengaluru Foundation has launched the Federation of Parents’ Association (FOPA). This association will play the role of a catalyst to get parents, police, the education department and school managements to visit schools. The announcement was made at Child Safe Bengaluru, a meeting of various school education stakeholders held on Saturday at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan.
Announcing the new association, Mr. Sridhar Pabbisetty, CEO, Namma Bengaluru Foundation, stated that the main objective of the association was to seek higher accountability and stricter enforcement of rules while protecting children from sexual predators.
“We aim to bring every aspect of child safety into the picture and ensure that the systems and processes to safeguard kids are in place through various interventions,” he said.
“A child-safe city, can only be the result of a collaborative effort of all the stakeholders. No one’s role in child safety should be looked at in isolation. Whether it’s the role of the education department, the role of hospitals, parents, or school managements, we will ensure that these systems are tightly controlled.”
He continued, “Safety of children is our primary concern and we will plug all the loopholes to ensure that a robust system is in place to provide complete security and safety for our kids,” he said.
National child sexual offenders’ list: The meeting also decided to request the center to come out with a national child sexual offenders’ list to increase the alertness of the general public.
