Karthik Gowda, accused for rape and cheating, gets anticipatory bail
Victim says she will move the High Court against the anticipatory bail
Bangalore: Karthik Gowda, son of Union Minister Sadananda Gowda, who has been accused for rape and cheating by an actress, has been granted anticipatory bail that protects him from arrest.
A court in Bangalore had issued an arrest warrant against him last week. But the police say they have not been able to question him or even find him so far.
On Monday, the court said he must cooperate with the police and submit a personal bond of two lakh rupees.
An actress filed an FIR or police complaint accusing Karthik of "rape, kidnapping and cheating" the day he got engaged to another woman two weeks ago.
Commenting on the bail given to Gowda, she says she will move the High Court against the anticipatory bail.
The actress claims that Gowda took her to Mangalore and married her there on June 5.
According to reports, she told the media that Gowda had demanded she listen to him since she was his wife and that they became physically close after that.
She further added that he Gowda must admit that they are married.
Karthik Gowda has denied her allegations and alleged a conspiracy in Congress-ruled Karnataka to discredit his father and ruin his political career.
Sadananda Gowda, who is Railway Minister in the central government, has said, According to reports, Sadananda Gowda believes that the allegations against his son are false and that if they are proven true then action be taken against him.
