Hyderabad: Kajal Aggarwal is in the news for money matters again. Producer-turned-actor Udhayanidhi Stalin recently lodged a complaint with the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC) against the actress, who is refusing to return the advance of Rs 40 lakh that he had given her for the film Nanbenda.

The Thuppaki actress was initially signed on to play the female lead in Nanbenda for which Udhay, as the producer, had paid her Rs 40 lakh as an advance, but for some reason, the project went to Nayantara.

According to reports, Kajal was asked to return the amount, but she said that this could be adjusted when she teamed up with him in future films. Now that Udhay has announced his next, Idhayam Murali, which features Hansika in the lead, it is clear that Kajal is not part of his next venture as well.

Once again, it is learnt that Kajal was dodging him when asked to give back the money. Udhay therefore took the matter to the TFPC.

A source from the Red Giant banner confirmed that Udhay had made a complaint. “According to TFPC rules, if an actress/actor had taken part in the film’s shoot even for a day and then removed from the film for some reason, the producer cannot demand the money paid to them until then.

But in this case, Kajal did not work for us even for a day, and so, we are rightfully asking for our money back. Whenever we call her, she gives an evasive reply,” the source said.

“To be fair to her, we even offered her Udhay’s next film with Thirukumaran of Maan Karate fame, but she said she didn’t have the dates,” he added.

T. Siva, from the TFPC, said that they had received the complaint and were ‘yet to look into the issue’.  When asked what she has to say about this, Kajal Agarwal said, “We are yet to receive the complaint letter; if I receive it, we will then take up the issue with the Artistes Association.”
