Burglars loot 40 sovereigns of gold

Assailants sprayed some chemical on the face of the four women, which made them unconscious and fled

CoimbatoreBurglars looted 40 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 10,000 cash from the house of a software engineer in Singanallur on Tuesday early morning. They sprayed a chemical on four sleeping women inmates, rendering them unconscious, the police said.
 
According to the Singanallur police, Rajaram (45), a software engineer in Chennai and a native of Coimbatore, and his family members resides at Thirukumaran Nagar in Singanallur. 
Once a week, he comes to Coimbatore and spends a day with his family and returns to Chennai, said the police.
 
On Monday night, after locking up the house, Rajaram's wife Janaki along with three others was sleeping inside the house. A two-member gang gained entry into the house after breaking the front door lock while the inmates were asleep.
 
They reportedly sprayed some chemical on the face of the four women, which made them unconscious. The burglars then fled with the booty. 
House owner Janaki who regained consciousness around 7.30 am on Tuesday, found the cupboard locker broken open and the valuables missing, the police said.
 
Sniffer dog Raja was brought to the spot and it ran for few metres from the house and could not help find anything. The Singanallur police have registered a case and investigating.
