Bengaluru: Indian woman screams rape, Dutch man held
Accused has been booked under sections 376, 420 (cheating), 506 (intimidation) of IPC
Bengaluru: A 43-year-old Dutch national was arrested by the Kempegowda International Airport Police after a 30-year-old woman lodged a rape and cheating complaint against him on Tuesday night.
Police have identified the accused as Peter Bruianj, a resident of Sadarahalli, who runs Nuffic-Nesco, a Dutch Educational Institute in Benniganahalli police limits.
In her complaint, the victim, who hails from Gurgaon, alleged that she got to know Peter through a social networking site. He later promised to marry her and developed physical relationship with her. She also alleged that the accused had told her that he was a divorcee and was keen on marrying an Indian origin woman.
She accepted his marriage proposal and later used to frequent Peter’s residence in Sadarahalli. She said Peter had approached her through Facebook three years ago.
“Promising to marry her, Peter and the victim had developed physical relationship, after which the victim conceived and the accused had forced her to undergo an abortion. Peter then began to avoid the victim. Sensing his intentions, the victim lodged a complaint of rape and cheating on Tuesday night,” said an investigating police officer.
Kempegowda International Airport police have directed the victim to undergo a medical test in Ambedkar hospital on Wednesday and the reports were awaited. The accused has been booked under sections 376 (rape), 420 (cheating), 506 (intimidation) of IPC and section 66 of IT Act and was produced before the magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
