IITs may face fine if construction of campus remains unfinished

Institutes are likely to be given three years to finish all infrastructure work on the campuses

New Delhi: With over two-thirds of Central Universities, IITs, IIMs and other central institutes established during the UPA regime functioning from rented buildings, Union HRD ministry is contemplating to impose financial penalty them if they do not complete their campus buildings within stipulated time. Many higher education institutes are likely to be given three years to finish all infrastructure work on the campuses. Sources stated that the move to establish a deadline for these institutes is expected to improve the pace of infrastructure creation in the higher education sector.
