Kakinada: An  accident involving an ambulance and RTC bus killed a patient on way to hospital and a paramedical staff along with the driver. The  accident   occurred on  ADB Road, Peddapuram. Ten passengers travelling on the  RTC  bus were  also injured in the incident.  The ambulance carrying the patient Katheti Sathibabu, 28, of Singampalli  village of  Rangampet mandal, was on its way to the Government General  Hospital (GGH), Kakinada. Peddapuram Circle Inspector K. Nageswara  Rao said that Sathibabu, suffering from a kidney ailment, was being taken   to GGH, Kakinada in an  '108' ambulance.  

The speeding  ambulance hit an  RTC bus going towards Rajahmundry from Kakinada. The patient died on  the spot while the driver of the ambulance Medisetty Srinivas, 38, of Anaparthi village and a technician Thatikonada Uma Sankar, 28, were  declared  dead on arrival by  doctors at a private hospital in Kakinada. CI Nageswara Rao said that it was raining at the time of the  accident  and  the ambulance may have skidded on the slippery road. The  10 injured  bus  passengers  were provided  treatment at the local hospital in Peddapuram  and discharged.   The deputy chief minister and home minister Nimmakayala Chinna  Rajappa rushed to the spot.  Peddapuram CI K. Nages-wara Rao registered a case and begun  investigations. Peddapuram police took RTC driver Ali into custody.
