High turn out of voters expected in Medak, Nandigama
So far, over Rs 1 crore unaccounted money and 4,000 litres of liqour have been seized
Hyderabad: Medak parliamentary constituency in Telangana and Nandigama Assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh is set to go for byelections on Saturday from 7 am to 6 pm.
Total 14 contesting candidates from Medak parliamentary constituency and four candidates from Nandigama Assembly constituency are in the fray this time.
Over 15.43 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in 1,817 polling stations in Medak parliamentary constituency and 1.84 lakh voters in Nandigama constituency of Krishna district.
Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal on Friday said that both the constituencies recorded more than 75 per cent voting turnout in the 2014 general elections and hoped that it would cross 90 per cent this time too as 95 per cent voter slip distribution has been completed.
So far, over Rs 1 crore unaccounted money and 4,000 litres of liqour have been seized during the checks in the two constituencies going for byelections, he added.
