New Delhi: The “white-coloured” bed linen usually seen in the hospitals is passe. With an aim to ensure that bed linen is changed everyday and reduce hospital borne infections, the Union health ministry is considering to introduce “colour-coded” bed linen for the hospitals.

Officials say that adopting the colour code for linen would improve the safety of hospital cleaning, ensure consistency provide clarity for staff and reduce hospital borne infections. “Colour-coded linen in hospitals is a simple method of differentiating used and fresh linen, hence reducing the risk of cross-infection,” said a senior official.
