Dasara flower show to be a grand event in Mysore

Mysore: The Dasara Flower is all set to compete with the Lalbagh Flower Show with the organizers planning a model of Vidhana Soudha with 1 lakh rose buds and orchids, musical fountains, pyramid arches, 8,500 varieties of flower pots and other attractions at the sprawling Nishad Bag, popularly known as Kuppanna park.

Floral busts of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, and others from royal family and their contributions will be highlighted in the expo this year. Dinesh Cini Mini who has come up with several floral models at Lalbagh is creating the floral model of Vidhan Soudha which will be of 35 feet wide and 25 feet high. There will also be a musical fountain with a capsule of five songs which will play for 20 minutes, Horticulture Department Deputy Director, Mr Jayaram said.

There are plans to build a temporary glass house to maintain the temperature to house the Ooty flowers at the show. A Honey mela, Pomogranate mela and Organic farming mela will be the other highlights of the Flower show. Seminars on latest farm technologies will also be held to help farmers. Various competitions including garden competitions, floral rangoli, fruit and vegetable salad contests will also be held.
