Sensex down over 118 points on profit-booking, global cues
Nifty is also down by 24.40 points in early trade
Mumbai: After yesterday's rebound, thebenchmark BSE Sensex slipped over 118 points in early trade,as funds and investors booked profits in recent outperformers amid a mixed trend overseas. The 30-share barometer, which had gained 138.78 points in the previous session, fell by 118.09 points, or 0.44 per cent, to 26,513.20. On similar lines, the broad-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty declined by 24.40 points, or 0.31 per cent, to 7,951.10.
Brokers said profit-booking by participants after yesterday's gains amid mixed trend on other Asian bourses following overnight gains on the US market after Federal Reserve stuck to its easy-money policy influenced sentiments here.
Among other Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell by 0.67 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei moved up by 0.93 per cent in early trade. However, the US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at fresh record high by rising 0.15 per cent higher in yesterday's trade.
