Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government will cancel the high security number plate’s contract given to the AP State Road Transport Corporation.

Transport minister S. Raghava Rao said the project is not being implemented properly. The previous government is responsible for the project not taking off till date. Necessary changes would be made and the project is likely to be given to the transport department for implementation.

“I have asked the APSRTC officials to give me a report on the project status. Based on the report, an appropriate decision for effective implementation of the project will be taken,” he said.

The minister warned that permits will be cancelled if private buses collected exorbitant amount from passengers during ensuing Dasera festival.

“It has come to my notice that the private bus operators are collecting three to four times more money from passengers compared to the original fare. We will not hesitate to cancel their permits,” he added.
