State government to open three cancer hospitals in Andhra Pradesh
Three cancer hospitals would open in Kurnool, Nellore, and Vijayawada
Visakhapatnam: Three cancer hospitals would open in Kurnool, Nellore, and Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas said on Thursday.
Addressing a media conference here, Srinivas said that three cancer hospitals would be established at Kurnool, Nellore, and Vijayawada and all government hospitals will get modern facilities with funds provided by the Centre.
Srinivas said that the health sector in the state was adversely affected due to the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh as all the super speciality hospitals, both government and private, were established in Hyderabad for last three decades.
The minister said that the state government has also proposed to set up super speciality hospitals in all 13 districts across the state, while all district hospitals would be provided with latest medical equipment and sufficient medical and paramedical staff.
The state government is committed to provide quality health care to the people, he said, adding, steps will be taken to start medical services at the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences here very soon.
