Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday asked officials to weed out bogus or ineligible pensioners from records as the government gets ready to implement the hike in monthly pension amount for various categories from October 2.

The TDP-led government earlier announced increasing pension by five times to Rs 1,000 for senior citizens, weavers and widows. For the physically challenged, the amount has been raised to Rs 1,500 per month.

In a review meeting held at his Camp Office here, Naidu asked officials to weed out bogus/ineligible pensioners and make a list of genuine beneficiaries for every village.

He asked officials to publish a pensioners' list in every village in the order of priority. The priority list is one that is made after Aadhaar seeding has been done with respective individual accounts, an official release said.

The Chief Minister said a six-member mandal-level committee, consisting of Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies, Sarpanches and social workers, would be formed to select pensioners and bring out the priority list.
