IAS officer sought for Khammam
People think that IAS officer was necessary for the corporation to resolve many problems in the town
Khammam: In view of the increasing population and needs in Khammam, people in the city are of the opinion that an IAS officer should be appointed as the commissioner for the municipal corporation to set things right.
MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar, one who is strongly in favour of appointment of an IAS officer, said the city needs an able person to channelise resources, both natural and human. “The city needs to be made clean and green,” he said.
K Srinvasa Rao, a physician, said the sanitation was at its worst in the city. “An in-charge commissioner is not able to solve the problems due to their limited stint in the office,”he pointed out. There is every need to appoint a full-fledged official to the corporation, he felt.
D. Chiranjeevi, a medical representative, said an IAS officer was necessary for the corporation to resolve many problems in the town. “The city has expanded to an additional 5-km radius and the population too is increasing with each passing day due to migration from villages.” Former councillor S. Veerabhadram said many of the colonies were not getting safe drinking water in monsoon and the government has to concentrate on such issues. “An efficient IAS officer is required at the helm of affairs in the corporation,” he added.
Many of the common public said that a full-fledged officer alone can function properly and meet all the necessities of the city in the changed scenario of increasing population. Any city can prosper and tread the path of progress under the leadership and supervision of an eminent official and so people have been seeking appointment of IAS officer.
