North Indians related to Siberians
North Indian population is said to be drawn from European and Middle Eastern races
Hyderabad: The North Indian population is said to be drawn from European and Middle Eastern races, but a new study has found that Siberians could also be linked to North Indians.
A study conducted by the scientists of the city-based CCMB, University of Tubingen and Harvard Medical School found a new population affiliated to Siberia and Russia that the Europeans draw from.
Previous research showed that North Indians had 70 per cent genetic similarities with Europeans. South Indians, however, were found to have affinity to no other group in the world.
Dr K. Thangaraj, senior principal scientist, CCMB, said, “North Indians are linked to European and Middle East races. People probably first came to Middle East and then migrated to Europe and North India.”
