Police stations to have women’s help desks
The DGP assured that the help desks will be arranged at each police station
Hyderabad: Director-general of police Anurag Sharma has announced that a women’s help desk will be set up at every police station. The help desk will have two women assistants to take down the case sheet, ensuring quicker assessment of the case. The Telangana state government’s committee on women’s safety and security met the DGP on Thursday and briefed him about the series of discussions and opinions of the participants, in the various meetings held by them over the past one week.
“The DGP assured that the help desks will be arranged at each police station. He has also assured that one woman counsellor will be appointed either at the sub-divisional level or at the police station-level, in coordination with Department of Women and Child Welfare or the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty officials,” said Poonam Malakondaiah, chairperson of the committee “A legal advisor and a fast track court will also be recommended for immediate actions against the culprits in,” Ms Malakondaiah said. Other members, including Sunil Sharma, Charu Sinha, Soumya Misra, Sailaja Ramaiyer and Swathi Lakra were also present.
