Khammam: The officials of rural water supply department (RWS) have commenced a survey for the prestigious Telangana government’s project aiming to provide purified water to all the habitations in the district.

As per the programme, safe water would be supplied to the villages till 2035 through specially built pipelines by getting water from Krishna and Godavari rivers. The present drinking water schemes are unable to supply safe water to the 26 lakh district population. Water everywhere is increasingly being contaminated from numerous sources and this, especially in potable (drinking) water is a major concern due to the associated health hazards. As per a survey, two lakh people in the district are suffering from water-borne diseases every year.
