Kerala RSS leader murder: TPC probe team quizzes Vikraman
SIT planning to question senior CPM leaders
Thiruvananthapuram: The special investigation team probing the ‘high-level conspiracy’ behind the murder of RMP leader T.P. Chandrasekharan has quizzed CPM activist Vikraman accused in the murder of RSS leader Kathiroor Manoj.
The mobile phone call records of Vikraman prior to Chandrasekharan’s murder on May 4, 2012 indicated that he was in constant contact with a prominent CPM leader in Kannur district as well as two members of the killer gang involved in the TPC murder.
Based on this information, a SIT team led by SP V.K. Akbar on Friday questioned Vikraman, who is now in the custody of the Crime Branch team probing the Manoj murder case in Kannur.
“The call record details showed that a top CPM district leader contacted Vikraman and the latter subsequently contacted two members of the killer gang. The members of the killer gang involved in the
TPC murder were drawn from separate gangs. The gang members were pooled over a period of two weeks over phone calls,” highly placed sources told Deccan Chronicle.
Vikraman was earlier a close aide of CPM Kannur district secretary P. Jayarajan. He was involved in many political attack cases. His name had also figured in the K.T. Jayakrishnan murder case of 1999.
The SIT had earlier got evidence regarding the presence of killer gang member ‘Kirmani’ Manoj during the wee hours of April 9, 2102, the concluding day of the CPM party congress in Kozhikode.
With the CBI declining the repeated request of the state government to take over the probe into the conspiracy behind the TPC murder, the SIT headed by ADGP north-zone Shankar Reddy has resumed the investigation.
A plea of Rema for a CBI probe into the conspiracy involving CPM state leaders is still pending before the court. The SIT is also planning to quiz senior CPM leaders in due course.
