Sitharaman loses baggage at airport, skips G-20 reception
The Union minister took to Twitter to comment on the situation
New Delhi/Cairns (Australia): Union minister of state for commerce Nirmala Sitharaman initially lost her luggage enroute to the Australian city of Cairns on Friday after Air India offloaded her luggage at Melbourne by mistake. However she got it back after the airline rushed her baggage to Sydney within a few hours.
But Ms Sitharaman who had by then already caught her connecting flight to Cairns had to miss the G-20 official reception as her formal clothes were in the suitcase.
The Union minister took to Twitter to comment on the situation.
An Air India official said that Ms Sitharaman was travelling to Sydney by a New Delhi-Melbourne-Sydney flight but that her luggage was offloaded at Melbourne by mistake. The airline immediately rushed the luggage to Sydney after three to four hours.
Ms. Sitharaman is in Australia to attend the two-day meeting of the G-20 finance ministers and Central Bank governors.
