Mohali: After asked to bat first by the hosts Kings XI Punjab, Barbados Tridents put up a formidable total of 174 runs on board in the fifth game of CLT20 at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali.

Here is the live cricket score.

Put in to bat first, Barbados Tridents were off to a flying start as the Munaweera and Perkins launched launched into the attack from over number one. The Awana-Anureet Singh combination conceded 34 runs in first three overs.

The duo broght up team's fifty in the fifth over. However, Perkins could not last long beyond that as Awana got him out LBW on the first ball of final over of powerplay.

Munaweera meanwhile brought up a rapid fire fifty. But just before he could reach the landmark he was dropped by Manan Vohra. But either Munaweera's patience ran-out or Vohra's luck smiled on him, as the Sri Lankan found handed an easy catch to Vohra who made no mistake to end Munaweera's inning.

However, his dismissal did not bringb down Tridents' run-rate as Reifer and Carter continued to score quickly. Carter though got out off Anureet Singh's bowling in the 13th over of the inning.

Tridents then lost two quick wickets as Chigumbura and James Franklin got out in quick succession to allow Kings XI Punjab make a comeback into the game.

However, Reifer did not let the loss of wickets hamper his batting and continued to tonk the ball across field at will. He remained unbeaten on 60.

Barbados Tridents scored 174 in their quota of 20 overs.

Preview:

The George Bailey-led unit, although struggled a bit during the chase against Hobart Hurricanes, eventually won the game comfortably. With their bowling looking good, KXIP are not going to be an easy target for Barbados Tridents.

The side from West Indies has a mix of players from variety of nationalities, from Zimbabwe’s Chigumbura to New Zealand’s James Franklin. However, they are relatively short on quality when compared with KXIP’s star power. However, the presence of Ravi Rampaul, a fine exponent of swing bowling, Tridents can upset the IPL side at home.

Key players:

Glenn Maxwell:

Although Glenn Maxwell could not finish off the game against Hobart Hurricanes and fell short of a fifty, he, with audacity and power, continues to be the player to watch out for from KXIP.

Ravi Rampaul:

While Tridents are missing out on the likes of Pollard, Shoaib Malik, they still have Ravi Rampaul in their ranks. With the Mohali wicket a bit more pacer friendly than many other Indian pitches, he can pose a number of questions to KXIP’s might batting unit.
