Hyderabad: Officials briefed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao that there would be no harm to the Legislative Assembly building as the Metro Rail viaduct passes 300 feet away from it and also 20 feet away from T-martyrs site. They said the viaduct was to pass over the T-martyrs site as per the original plan, but now that has been changed and as such there is no need for realignment at these locations.

Though Mr Rao did not make any observations over this, officials said he seemed convinced about their argument. The government is likely to adopt a silent stand on realignment at these locations where work has reached an advanced stage.

The biggest complaint from L&T was over the delay in giving “right of way” to take up construction work on the middle of the road. This led to severe delay in the launch of work on congested roads.

Traffic police has been refusing to give permission to L&T to take up work on busy roads fearing severe disruption to traffic during peak hours.

However, the letter sent by L&T to the government on September 10, which was leaked to the media, expressing its inability to construct the project due to delay in right of way and realignment proposals, has put state the government in a tight spot.
