Kozhikode: The mobile phone has done enough damage to the privacy of individuals, but for the first time it has also laid bare the Caesarean section done on a woman without her permission.

The woman, Sunitha of Thrikkarippur, gave birth to triplets at government taluk hospital, Payyannur, Kannur, on July 18 and the sequences of the Caesarean were filmed using a mobile phone either by the doctors on duty or any of the staff who accompanied them. About 20 of the photographs have been spreading  through WhatsApp and internet among the hospital staff,  doctors and the public.

It was on December 30, 2013 that Sunitha  did a scanning at the hospital and realised that she had  triplets, according to a complaint she submitted at Payyannur police station on   Sunday.

It is clear that without the consent of the doctors present during the surgery, the photographs could not be taken. Two doctors, including the gynaecologist, could be seen in some of the photographs.

Kannur district medical officer K.J. Reena told DC that a committee headed by the superintendent of the hospital had been already constituted to probe into the incident
