Andhra Pradesh E-Delivery of Services
Most government offices prefer to continue with the manual mode of delivering services
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government is contemplating on introducing ‘Electronic Delivery of Services Act’ that seeks to mandate the delivery of all citizen and business services electronically and fix a time limit of three years to do so. The act is aimed to remove the “initial hesitation to adopt e-services” and to make all departments implement the e-Gov projects in a time bound manner. Sources said it will be a right based legislation like RTI wherein the act fixes responsibilities on officials for implementation.
According to IT Department officials the proposed act will combine the best features of the EDS bill to Right to Time-bound delivery of Public Services Bill and the Right to Services Act of the States. An IT official said, “Most government offices prefer to continue with the manual mode of delivering services. With this act the e-Gov programmes will get a great fillip.”
