Chennai: PMK founder Dr S. Ramadoss on Sunday sought a court monitored probe by a special investigation team in to the Aavin milk adulteration scam to nab all the culprits. He also urged the state government to take steps to amend the laws in line with the Supreme Court suggestion to punish the people indulging in adulteration of milk with life imprisonment.

In a statement here, Dr Ramadoss said that the adulteration scam has happened across the state. He alleged that every day about two lakh litres of milk would be stolen from the Aavin tankers and it would be replaced by an equal amount of chemical mixed water. The scam is worth over Rs 150 crore a year, he noted. PMK leader said that doctors usually recommend to those parents who cannot breastfeed babies to give Aavin milk as it was known for its quality.

“Those who adulterated the milk given to children should not go unpunished,” he said, adding that with the arrest of ruling AIADMK men in the adulteration scam, a probe conducted by an agency controlled by the state government would not bring the full truth behind the scam. “Hence, a court monitored probe by a special investigating team should be conducted on the milk adulteration scam,” he demanded.
