Salem: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday dubbed the BJP government at the Centre as a “regime for the rich, industrial giants and the private sector and not for the poor.” Manik Sarkar, who is considered to be the poorest Chief Minister in the country, accused  the BJP government of pushing its “pro-rich, capitalist and Hindutva policies.” The BJP government is trying to turn secular India into a Hindu nation by pushing the Sangh Parivar’s Hindutva agenda, Manik Sarkar charged

The Tripura Chief Minister was in Salem on Monday to address a public meeting on the concluding day of  of the 14th state conference of the All India Democratic Women’s Association, the women’s wing of the CPI (M) party. The Congress-led UPA was routed in the polls because of corruption, inflation, farmers’ suicide and joblessness. But the Modi government which was voted to power on its promise of curbing inflation and combating graft had done nothing so far. Instead of curbing inflation, the government is taking steps like rail fare and freight charges hike, fuel price rise, that will send prices of essential commodities spiralling, he said.
