HyderabadTelangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday asked the Krishna and Godavari River Management Boards to prepare and implement operational rules and manage all the projects built on the two rivers.

Mr Rao held a high-level meeting at the Secretariat with the chiefs of both the boards, S.K. Pandit and M.S. Aggarwal, to discuss water sharing. He released Rs 5 crore, each, for the two boards for speedy completion of works.

He alleged that gross injustice had been meted out to TS irrigation projects as consecutive AP governments had conspired against Telangana. Allocation to all cities and towns should be completed on priority basis, he added. The TS government plans to bring water from the Palamur lift irrigation scheme to Hyderabad for drinking purpose.

Though 70 per cent of water of the two rivers flow into TS and 90 tmc and 175 tmc are allotted to Krishna and Godavari respectively, the region could not utilise the water due to AP conspiracies, Mr Rao said.
