Chikmagalur: President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Dr G. Parameshwar on Monday reiterated that he will join the Siddaramaiah cabinet only as Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) but added as an after thought that he will abide by the decision of the Chief Minister and party leaders.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Parameshwar said: "I have not demanded the Deputy Chief Minister's post in my discussions with the party high command but my well-wishers want me to aspire for the post. I am very grateful to them for this."
The KPCC chief said he would leave the decision on his inclusion in the state cabinet as DCM to Mr Siddaramaiah and other party leaders. Dr Parameshwar also revealed that he had asked the Chief Minister to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi's programme in Tumkur where he is scheduled to inaugurate a Food Park. “Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister and not a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader. Moreover, the state government has contributed to the setting up of the Food Park in Tumkur. I have also asked Congress MLAs to attend the PM’s programme."
On the pending appointments to various state run Boards and Corporations, Dr Parameshwar said, "Most of the appointments have been finalised duirng talks between me and Mr Siddaramaiah". He added that he was hopeful the appointments would be completed in this month itself. The KPCC chief said that the Congress government in the state has fulfilled many promises made in the poll manifesto and steps have been initiated to fulfill the remaining promises.
